SCID

SCID
(= severe combined (or congenital) immunodeficiency disease)
An heterogeneous group of inherited disorders characterized by gross functional impairment of the immune system. About half the patients with recessive autosomal form have adenosine deaminase (ADA) deficiency. Another form is caused by lack of a transcription factor required for expression of HLA class II genes.
